Privacy Policy — Quill Reader

The short version: Quill collects no data about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Everything the app knows — your feeds, articles, and reading history — lives on your device and never reaches me.

Who makes Quill

Quill Reader ("Quill") is an RSS reader for iPhone and iPad made by me, Johannes Länström — an independent developer publishing under the name Made by Ström. You can reach me at hello@madebystrom.com.

Data I collect

None. Quill has no user accounts, no analytics or telemetry, no advertising, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no third-party services embedded in the app. I do not collect, receive, store, sell, or share any personal data, and there are no servers of my own that the app talks to.

Data stored on your device

Everything Quill manages is stored locally on your device: your feed subscriptions, downloaded articles, read and starred state, tags, interests, and settings. This data is never transmitted to me. Old, read articles are automatically pruned after 30 days. Deleting the app deletes all of its data.

On-device intelligence

Quill can summarise and categorise articles using Apple Intelligence, which runs entirely on your device. Article content processed this way is never sent to me or to any third party.

Network connections the app makes

Quill is a feed reader, so it fetches content from the internet on your behalf. Its connections are limited to:

• The feeds you subscribe to. When Quill refreshes a feed, that website receives an ordinary web request from your device — your IP address and the app's identifier (QuillReader/1.0) — just as a browser visit would. Each publisher's own privacy policy governs what they do with their server logs.
• Wikipedia. The optional Discover feed fetches featured content from the Wikimedia API (Wikimedia privacy policy).
• Websites you open. Reading an article's web page (including reader mode, and pages preloaded to make reading faster) connects your device directly to that website, like any browser visit. Those sites may set cookies and can see the standard information any website sees.

In every case your device talks directly to those services; nothing is routed through me.

Beta testing via TestFlight

If you use Quill through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may share crash logs and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send with me, as described in Apple's privacy policy and the TestFlight terms. I use these only to fix problems and improve the app.

Your choices

Because I hold no data about you, there is nothing for you to request, export, or ask me to delete — your data is already exclusively in your hands. Removing a feed deletes its articles, and deleting the app removes everything.

Children

Quill does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If Quill's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, I will update this page and note the date above.
